Pelton Turbines
Pelton turbines are action or impulse turbines, which directly convert kinetic energy into mechanical movement at atmospheric pressure. It is a remarkable evolution of the old “water wheels” and its name comes from its inventor, the North American engineer Lester Allan Pelton who developed it during the 1870s. It grew in popularity especially in North America and European countries, and is suitable for very high heads, normally found in mountain regions.
Head:
100 à 1100 m
Pelton turbines can have different numbers of shells or blades, designed to equally split the incident water jet and transform it into mechanical movement by changing its direction. The jets or injectors can be arranged in various positions, normally in quantities of 2 to 6.
Pelton turbines are normally applied at potentials of 300 m to 1100 m, but can be installed at heads of less than 100 m, or in extreme cases up to 1700 m.
HACKER designs, manufactures and repowers Pelton turbines of different sizes, with high quality mechanical and hydraulic technology, resulting in robust equipment for demanding applications.
